Fall Skin Specials: Fraxel VS Perfect Derma Peel

Fall Skin Specials Fraxel VS Perfect Derma Peel

Table of Contents

Now that fall has arrived it’s a great time to reverse summer sun damage. Even with a proper application of sunscreen, UV rays can penetrate the skin barrier and cause damage from the surface to the cellular level. Overtime exposure to the sun leads to the breakdown of collagen and elastin causing hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. To maximize the longevity of your skin we recommend the Fraxel or the Perfect Derma Peel to promote collagen growth and help reverse sun damage!

What is Fraxel treatment?

The Fraxel laser is the first non-ablative fractional skin resurfacing treatment that helps improve tone, texture, and radiance for people who want to look younger without surgery or extended downtime. A “non-ablative” treatment is performed by heating the underlying tissue without removing the top layer of the skin. Whereas “fractional” means the treatment will only treat a fraction of the surrounding tissue leaving the surrounding areas still intact. Since the Fraxel treatment is non-ablative and fractional the stimulation of new skin cells will be much faster leading to shorter downtime. If you are looking for a single treatment that will help you look younger without any dramatic changes or needles, the Fraxel is for you!

What to expect:

Once you arrive at our office we will apply a medical-grade topical numbing cream for one hour and if you have a low pain tolerance and/or anxiety we recommend adding Pro-Nox (laughing gas) to make the treatment more bearable.

Day 1: The treatment will take about 45 minutes and after you leave our office you will feel and look like you have a sunburn. Patients can take ibuprofen to ease discomfort and help with swelling.

Day 2: The skin may appear red or bronzy, like a deep tan. The skin also feels dry and almost like sandpaper.

Day 3-4: The skin begins to peel from the nose out to the hairline.

Day 5: Peeling may still be happening, but it is nearly done.

1-Week Post: Skin may be slightly pink but overall patients will see smoother, more vibrant, youthful skin.

2-Weeks Post: Your skin has healed and you can resume your regular skin care regimen.

What is the Perfect Derma Peel?

The Perfect Derma Peel is a medium-depth peel that is safe and effective for all skin types and ethnicities. It is also the only medical-grade chemical peel that has glutathione which is the ultimate antioxidant with powerful skin-lightening and anti-aging benefits. The other powerful ingredients include TCA, Kojic Acid, Retinoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, and Vitamin C to improve tone, and texture, and reduce hyperpigmentation, sun damage, and Melasma. The Perfect Derma Peel helps improve acne scars, tightens pores, and stimulates collagen production resulting in firmer, younger-looking skin.

What to expect:

Day 1: Treatment will take an hour and there is minimal downtime.
Day 3-4: Peeling begins and will last about 2-4 days
1-Week Post Treatment: Your skin has healed and you can resume your regular skin care regimen.

Do I need the Fraxel or Perfect Derma Peel?

Since the Fraxel and Perfect Derma Peel address major skin concerns like hyperpigmentation, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size the comparison below can help you choose which one is best for you:

Cost: During the month of October we offer 20% off Fraxel and Perfect Peel. Making the Fraxel $800 instead of $1,000 and the Perfect Peel $240 instead of $300.

Prep: A week prior to your appointment you will need to pause the use of any exfoliating and retinol products and you must not have any active sunburns or cold sores.

Level of penetration: The Fraxel reaches the skin’s epidermis and dermis levels whereas the Perfect Derma Peel just reaches the epidermis. Both treatments will have significant peeling that will improve superficial pigment, elasticity, and overall texture concerns. With the Fraxel reaching a much deeper level of the skin and using heat it will have longer results and builds/repairs collagen and elastin more effectively than the Perfect Derma Peel.

Acne: If you are currently treating active acne we recommend the Perfect Derma Peel. If you don’t have active blemishes and are looking to treat acne scars or deep wrinkles, we recommend Fraxel.
